Annika Luther, Sari Peltoniemi and Marja-Leena Tiainen nominated for the Topelius Prize

The Topelius Prize selection jury has nominated Annika Luther’s City of the Homeless, Sari Peltoniemi’s I Hear the Call of Forest Magic and Marja-Leena Tiainen’s Between Two Worlds for the Topelius Prize 2012.

Awarded annually since 1946, the Topelius Prize is Finland’s oldest literary prize in recognition of the best Finnish book for children and young people. The prize is awarded annually for the best youth novel by The Finnish Union of authors writing for children, youngsters and young adults.  The winner will be announced on 13 January 2012.

Sari Peltoniemi in memoriam (1963-2023). We are deeply saddened by the news of author Sari Peltoniemi passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sari Peltoniemi's family and friends. Our heartfelt condolences.

Sari Peltoniemi was a versatile and respected author who wrote for children, young adults, and adults. She  also wrote lyrics and played the bass in the Noitalinna huraa! band. Peltoniemi’s texts have the ability to transform even the most ordinary into extraordinary and everyday life into an adventure. Peltoniemi said she writes organic fantasy that combines everyday reality with the countless possibilities of the imagination.
