We are thrilled to announce the publication of the first foreign edition of Katri Lipson’s acclaimed The Ice-Cream Man (Jäätelökauppias, Tammi 2012): the Czech edition, which is scheduled for a February 2014 release. The novel, which explores themes of guilt, humanity and the fuzzy lines between fact and fiction in a narrative spanning several generations, won 2013’s EU Prize for Literature, an award recognizing Europe’s best emerging authors.
The Ice-Cream Man has been a critical darling: Finland’s largest newspaper Helsingin Sanomat described it as “a reader’s paradise” while the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE called it one of 2012’s “literary gems.”
Lipson is due to visit Prague, one of the main locations of her novel, in March. In April she has been invited to visit the London Book Fair as the guest of Literature Across Frontiers, an organization promoting intercultural dialogue through literature and translation.
